MONDAY MAY 19, 2002, 3PM-- Very sad news... Judith Jolly had ordered a SatRDay as a gift for her fiance Larry Schwartz. Larry was recently killed when hit by the side mirror of a bus. He was wearing a helmet. RoadBikeRider.com placed a tribute in their weekly newsletter, and I quote:
"On a sad note, we report the death of Texas roadie Larry Schwartz, an ultramarathon cyclist and RBR subscriber. Larry, 42, died from neck and head injuries when hit by the right-side mirror of a school bus. He'd been a long-distance cyclist since 1988 and rode 26,000 miles last year. Larry grew up in Maryland and earned degrees from RPI in Troy, NY, and SMU. He was a project manager for MCI WorldCom in Dallas till he retired in 1999. He was to marry fellow cyclist Judith Jolly next month.Larry was wearing a helmet. The bus driver has been charged with failure to stop and render aid. Memorial donations can be made to Texas Bicycling Coalition, PO Box 1121, Austin, TX 78767."
Thank you to Fred and Ed at RoadBikeRider.com for thinking of Larry and Judith as we all are.
Meanwhile, The Schwartz and Jolly family are requesting friends, family, and fellow cyclists to please sign the online guest book on the Dallas Morning News web site. It will be on-line permanently. This would be very much appreciated.
Please click on May 6th on the calendar and click on Lawrence Schwartz's name. Then you need to click on guest book sign in.
