The Bike Friday TravelCase is a standard F'lite suitcase made by Samsonite. The retractable handle and shape make it easy to pull through an airport and to pack your bike into.
The TravelCase interior dimensions are approximately 29.5 x 20.3 x 10 inches (75 x 51.6 x 25.4 cm). With absolute outside dimensions of approximately 31.5 x 23 x 11 inches (80 x 58.4 x 28 cm) - or 65 linear inches, depending on how you measure it - it may be a just over some airlines' published no-surcharge size, but neither Bike Friday nor the nice folks at Samsonite have heard of any oversize luggage fees being assessed. Check with your airline to be sure if you're concerned.
You can complete your travel system with a TravelTrailer frame which turns the TravelCase into a trailer. The TravelTrailer frame can pack into the case with your bike. You can then unpack your bike and convert your TravelCase into a trailer to pull behind your bike while touring.
The TravelCase can be purchased with or without the packing materials. The cost for the TravelCase ala carte is $185, and the TravelCase complete with packing materials is $245 (Tandem $430). When ordered with the packing materials, the TravelCase comes with the all the tools and materials you'll need for packing your Bike Friday. Please note that packing materials are different for each model, so refer to your Owner's Manual for your specific model's packing instructions.
Packing Materials may include:
- Toolkit: headset/pedal wrench; 2,3,4,5,6,8mm multitool; 4mm ball-end hex wrench; gloves
- Bike-specific packing video
- Fork spreader
- Case crush protector
- Chain strap
- Assortment of plastic tubing and felt bags to protect the components and frame paint (some not shown)
