on friday's bike did i ride
along the path the stream beside
no barrier in my way did stand
as i did traverse this fair land
ah yes the wheels are rather quaint
but this good bike a toy it ain't
with gears many levers too
it sure beats leather or sports shoe
no gas into the air it gives
why it ensures that something lives
yes that something it is me
released from tension travelling free
so when cars their horns do blow
i do tell them where to go
its not to heaven or on earth
quietly giggle filled with mirth
as i recall from years gone by
my father's saying before he died
"go to father she said when i asked her to wed
she knew that i knew that her father was dead
she knew that i knew what she meant when she said
go to father"
so when i smile, sun is gone
memory of day lingers on
 of dusty road and summer rain
cycling on fridays brings no pain
